Natural Born Storytellers |
End of a fabulous year!
|
Natural Born Storytellers began in Camden Town, London, travelled the UK with sell-out events and has now found it's way to New Zealand! We are very excited to be collaborating with the founders to develop our very own kiwi-Christchurch version. The idea behind Natural Born Storytellers is that everyone has a story to tell, so come and tell it. Natural Born Storytellers is a fun, supportive and welcoming space for anyone – and that means absolutely anyone, no experience needed – to tell true stories. They may be funny, sad, touching or terrible. People want to hear from you! Each night is themed with prepared storytellers, combined with stories from the audience. The first year of Natural Born Storytellers was a great success. People of many ages, backgrounds and life experiences generously shared their stories to a growing community. Since then we have seen our audience grow – it has reached a momentum and popularity we couldn't have dreamed of. We have regular storytellers and plenty of 'new' people becoming brave enough to step into the light and speak. Thank you to all who contribute in various ways to co-create this unique storytelling space. 2019 is our fourth year – what stories will be let loose in the next spin around the sun? Get ready to laugh, gasp, sigh and be inspired!! We always have room for new stories – and new tellers! We can coach you if it is your first time. It is a very friendly crowd and a warm and welcoming venue. So if you feel an inkling and you'd like to have a go, please get in touch. Our themes in 2019: April 2019: Magical Moments May 2019: Tales form the Fireside August 2019: Caught in the Act November 2019: Childhood |
Once again we have enjoyed a wonderful year of stories in 2019. Our evenings are well known in Christchurch for their friendly and supportive vibe, where everyone's story is valued and celebrated. We have grown an impressive and imaginative 'troupe' of regular tellers and a friendly crowd of regular storylisteners. Every evening is different and unpredictable. We learn to 'go with the flow' - and it always turns out ok in the end. I wonder what will 2020 bring and what tales will be told? While we take a much needed break to be close to our loved ones and reflect on the past year, it's time to look forward and make plans for more story events. And this is where YOU come in. We want to know what you would like to experience in the way of storytelling events. We are open to your ideas, whatever form they take. Think big – think small and friendly. Let's see where our imagination will take us. And if you like what we do and would like to help us do more of it, please sing out. Send us an email to introduce yourself. We are always in need of volunteers to help us make our events the best they can be. The Story Collective is a small band of people who love story in all its forms. We welcome others who would like to take an active role in our community-focused projects and events. If you have ideas for themes, or can help us with the organisation and running of events - dont be shy!! We'd love to hear from you!
