22 November: Doll-making Workshop with Hilary Jean Tapper
Illustrator and artisan doll-maker Hilary Jean Tapper is offering a free doll-making workshop to tie in with our Natural Born Storytellers theme of Childhood. Hilary creates handmade courage dolls that inspire a feeling of old-fashioned comfort and imagination, so often overlooked in our fast-paced world. The soft cloth dolls are a conduit to and a symbol of the brave and innocent inner child within us all – the one who loves to play, be seen and above all be loved. Hilary is a lover of gardens, quietness, long forest wanders, reading, drawing and making little people. Her work with dolls draws from her own childhood memories of beloved toys. "I consider it a blessing and a great service to create soft friends that go out into the world to inspire a little imagination and courage – for people of all ages."
