Welcome to The Story Collective...
A home for stories and storytellers in Otautahi-Christchurch, New Zealand, and beyond...
The Story Collective has retired - for now! But we are leaving our content online for anyone who wants to be inspired by the magic of storytelling. This will serve as a wonderful time capsule of all the stories that were shared through our Natural Born Storytellers evenings, story workshops and other events. Thank you to everyone who took part - and everyone who came to listen. You will also discover resources here and ways to connect with others working with story. Enjoy!
Gone but not forgotten
We did not know at the time that our last evening of Natural Born Storytellers for 2019 on 22 November would be our last event ever! Covid, the great disrupter, came and shook everything up. WIth so many other things to think about, our events went on the back burner - and now we are moving on to other projects. No doubt there will be many a tale to tell about covid. But for now The Story Collective is taking a breather. We thank our wonderful community for all the amazing tales and we hope that we sowed the seed of storytelling in many people's hearts and minds. For there will always be stories... and those who tell them.

“It's a human need to be told stories. The more we're governed by idiots and have no control over our destinies, the more we need to tell stories to each other about who we are, why we are, where we come from, and what might be possible."
Alan Rickman |
